The Bespoke Collection
Every bespoke cake starts with a conversation and ends with something made only for you. Christenings, communions, confirmations, birthdays, anniversaries - if it matters enough to mark, we can make it.
Below you'll find how the process works, what things cost, and everything we've learned about getting a cake safely from our studio to your celebration.
How it works
1. Tell us about it. Email us with your date, the number of guests, your flavour, the decoration you have in mind, and whether you'd like to collect or have it delivered. The more detail you send, the fewer emails we both have to write.
2. We'll quote you. You'll get a price and a design direction, usually within a few days.
3. Secure your date. A £50 deposit confirms your booking and we start work. The balance is settled on collection or delivery.
4. We make it. Your cake is made fresh in the days before your celebration, and you'll see it finished when you collect it.
5. Collection or delivery. The balance is settled on the day, or earlier by invoice if you prefer.
Book as early as you can. As soon as you have your date, get in touch, it is never too early.
Inspiration, and why we won't copy another artist's cake
Please do send us pictures. Inspiration images tell us more about your taste in ten seconds than a paragraph ever could, and they're one of the most useful things you can bring to a first conversation.
What we won't do is reproduce another cake artist's design. Their work is their own, and copying it isn't something we're willing to do.
It also wouldn't give you what you're hoping for. Every cake artist works with their own techniques, their own colour mixes and their own materials, so a copy is never really a copy. It's an imitation, and it falls short of both cakes.
So tell us what draws you to an image instead. The shape. A particular colour. The texture of the finish. One flower you keep coming back to. The way the tiers sit together. We'll take those details and design something original around them - your cake, built from the things you love, and made in a way we can stand over.

All prices are a starting point. The final figure depends on the detail and time your design needs.

Birthday cakes tend to carry more decoration, so do email us to confirm a price for what you have in mind.
What's included: the cake, ganached and finished in buttercream or fondant, decorated in a similar style to our gallery, a topper, and boxing.
What costs extra: more than one fondant figurine; sugar or other edible flowers; large areas of 24ct gold; handmade textures that take significant extra time; and delivery, where agreed, depending on distance.
Our two-tier cakes are stacked using a method that makes the journey to your venue considerably less nerve-racking.

Sugar and edible flowers

Fondant figurines
I'm very lucky to have a talented daughter, Karina, who is a cake figurine artist. Her ability to create detailed, characterful figurines is admired by customers here and internationally.
- Teddy bears, bunnies, elephants, dogs, cats - from £25
- Simple cars, tractors - from £30
- People figurines for birthday cakes - from £35
- Wedding cake toppers with bride and groom, custom details replicating outfits and accessories - from £160
Prices vary with detail and complexity. Figurines need three to four weeks to dry, so please order well ahead.
You can also commission Karina directly for your own home baking or bakery. Find her on Instagram at @thesugarconcept.
French macarons
Another thing we're enormously proud of.
Add a box of macarons alongside your cake, or order a larger quantity for the party itself - just ask when you enquire.
Flavours: vanilla bean, lemon and poppyseed, raspberry and white chocolate, pistachio, spiced chocolate, white blackcurrant, traditional blackcurrant, salted caramel
Not every flavour is available at all times, so order ahead for your favourites.

Order it for the day you'll eat it
Please book your cake for the actual date of your celebration, and collect it that day - not one or two days beforehand.
We know an early collection can save a second trip, and we understand the temptation. But a cake is finished at the last possible moment for a reason.
Fresh flowers, fresh fruit and macarons are added right at the end. They don't survive a night in a fridge or a day on a worktop - flowers wilt, fruit weeps into the buttercream, and macarons soften. Fondant figurines and flowers are not fridge friendy, because they are humid places, and a figurine or flower that took hours to shape can slump out of shape overnight.
Collected on the day, your cake looks exactly as it did when we finished it. Collected two days early, it won't - and there's nothing we can do about that once it's left us.
Collecting your cake
We want your cake to arrive exactly as it left us.
- Clear your car boot. We need a flat surface - a cake will not travel on a car seat or anything uneven.
- Make the collection the last stop of your day.
- Keep the air conditioning on. You may want a jumper, even in summer, especially with a buttercream cake on a warm day.
- Leave plenty of distance from the car in front, watch for potholes, take corners slowly, and avoid braking hard.
- Once you leave our premises, the cake is in your care.
- Then enjoy it. Take lots of photographs, send us a few, tag us on social media - and do tell your guests where it came from.
Please arrive at the time we agree. Not an hour later, and not two. We love meeting our customers and having a chat, but there are usually other cakes to finish, other collections booked in behind yours, and occasionally a plane to catch. If your plans change, a quick message on WhatsApp is all we need we'd far rather rearrange than wonder.
